Here is an email I just recieved on this topic.....
I actually have an original copy of the Lincoln-Douglas debates, which few academics have apparently taken the time to read. In it, Lincoln unequivacally states:
"I have no disposition to introduce political and social equality between the white and black races. There is a physical difference between the two, which in my judgment will probably forever forbid their living together on terms of respect, social and political equality, and inasmuch as it becomes a necessity that there should be a superiority somewhere, I, as well as Judge Douglas, am in favor of the race to which I belong having the superior position.."
Nevertheless, my children are being taught that Lincoln favored freeing the slaves, that the Civil War was about freeing slaves, and that slaves were freed because of Lincoln's convictions. In fact, the following statement was made by Lincoln on September 18, 1858 during a speech in Charleston, IL:
I as much as any other man am in favor of the superior position being assigned to the white man.
I will gladly copy pertinent portions from my original copy of the Lincoln-Douglas debates should anybody disbelieve what Lincoln actually said. The unwillingness for people to continue what they believe in spite of obvious, demonstrable error - especially when it concerns biblical doctrine and history - continues to amaze me. I lay the blame at the feet of our teachers, who are either ignorant or have chosen to ignore what is demonstrably true.
Lincoln was not a gentle, godly and great man, and was not deserving of the admiration afforded him today.
Though Linclon was a great President, there are facts about what he thought that have been with-held from the public... learn more.....
